Accomplishments
Lowering Costs & Consumer Protection
Senator Jackson supported the Utility RELIEF Act, which will lower average annual energy bills for marylanders, hold utility companies accountable, and limit excessive costs from being passed on to customers. The law also requires data centers to contribute more toward the energy and infrastructure they use, invests $100 million in clean energy, and strengthens assistance programs that could save qualifying households up to $1,400 per year.
He also supported the Protection from Predatory Pricing Act, which prohibits businesses from using information such as a customer’s shopping habits or other personal data to charge different people different prices for the same product. It also requires prices displayed through electronic shelf labels to remain fixed for at least one business day, protecting shoppers from sudden price changes and unfair pricing practices.
Community Investments
Senator Jackson and his team secured more than $3 million in direct investments for District 8, supporting schools, playgrounds, food access, and other neighborhood priorities.
These investments include $265,000 for Loch Raven High School, $250,000 for Villa Cresta Elementary School, $225,000 for a new playground at Cromwell Valley Elementary School, and $125,000 at Overlea High School. Additional funding supported a playground fence at McCormick Elementary School and a new freezer for a community food pantry, strengthening neighborhood spaces and expanding access to essential resources.
Senior Support
Senator Jackson has worked to make District 8 safer, more accessible, and more affordable for older residents. He helped secure $100,000 for security and technology improvements at the Seven Oaks, Parkville, Overlea-Fullerton, and Victory Villa senior centers, strengthening the community spaces that seniors rely on.
He has also supported efforts to lower prescription drug costs and make essential health care more affordable, helping older residents remain healthy, independent, and connected to their communities.
Economy & Jobs
Senator Jackson is investing in the transportation, infrastructure, and local resources that help District 8’s economy grow. He helped secure $2 million for a new Eastside commuter bus route connecting White Marsh to Tradepoint Atlantic, making it easier for residents to reach employment opportunities and supporting one of the region’s major job centers.
He has also worked to protect families and local businesses from unnecessary costs by supporting stronger utility accountability, opposing personalized grocery pricing based on consumers’ personal data, and securing funding for schools, parks, and community facilities.
